Charles Darwin once said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”
We’ve printed a banner of that quote and have it hanging in our press room for inspiration. It’s a reminder that being strong and smart isn’t enough. We have to always be ready to do things differently. And ideally do them first. We’ve lived by Darwin’s words ever since we were founded, being the first to adopt new technology and develop new techniques. Our refreshed brand, name and website are just further proof.
MEET THE NEW (OLD) BATTLEFIELD PRESS
We opted to return to our roots with our name refresh. “Battlefield Press” was the name we incorporated under in 1964. (We subbed in “graphics” for “press” in the 80s.) To us, the word “press” speaks to the art and craft of printing, which we take very seriously. It also speaks to the legacy of four generations of printers, now that third-generation printer, Jerry Theoret, has been joined by his son, Matt. The word “press” is also a reminder that, unlike smaller digital print shops, we are—and always have been—high-capacity offset printers who use state-of-the-art presses to push the limits of our craft. Really, though, we’re happy to be known simply as “Battlefield”—so you’ll see us using our logo minus the word “press,” too.
OUR VERSION OF THE SWOOSH
The bright color in our new logo highlights the power of our 12-color and 7-color presses. The decision to focus on purple and orange was no accident; it helps illustrate our hexachrome capabilities as we’re one of the only printers that can print them with accuracy. The organic flowing lines, which we’ve pulled out of the logo and used strategically across our new website, represent the inspiration behind the work that art directors bring us and the fluidity of the creative process. The strong geometry of the typeface and box around “Battlefield” conveys the strength of our approach and our ability to execute creativity with confidence. The website features the knock-out and full-color versions of our new logo. Keep an eye out for print materials showcasing our vibrant full-color version, complete with specialty coatings and hexachrome inks.
